During the month of November schools across the nation participated in Soapbox Challenges hosted by MIkva Challenge DC. Mikva Challenge was founded on the premise that youth voice and participation matter, and that our civic and political life will be stronger when youth participate and help shape their own destinies.
We participated on Mikva Challenge DC panels at two amazing Ward 7 schools--Woodson High School and Kelly Miller Middle School. Youth unemployment, college funding, sexual assault and truancy were just a couple of the topics discussed by the youth. Students did a great job stating facts & proposing solutions to community issues.
